New injection grade additives make plastic surfaces highly water resistant and stain resistant

[Chinese Packaging Network News] NBD Nano technologies (Boston, MA, USA) recently introduced an injection-grade additive that makes the plastic surface highly water-resistant, dust-proof, stain-resistant and resistant to mud and ice. The company is about to bring the RepelShell line to market. This additive is the first product of the series. Initial applications include waterproof, dirt-resistant sports shoes, electronics, self-cleaning nonwoven fabrics, and stain-resistant textiles. Industrial plastics for energy, automotive, construction, manufacturing and technology can also benefit from this material.

The formula is composed of functional molecules that have been incorporated into additives during the plastic compounding process and have been patented. The mixed molecules of NBD contain organic and inorganic elements that satisfy the required structural and thermal properties.

NBD adds nanostructured chemical powders to plastics to achieve waterproof and oleophobic performance.
